A subdomain is a part of a web address that is under the main domain, for example name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every subdomain could have its own web site and records and can also be hosted through a different company if you want to use a feature that isn't offered by your current provider. A good example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. You can also have a forum where they can discuss the products and by using subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your websites separated is also more secure in the case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

Our website hosting packages will enable you to set up many subdomains for every domain name hosted in your account without any problem. Provided that the main domain is added, it requires two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and select what folder it'll open (if different from the default one), set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that specific subdomain. We have not set a limit for the amount of subdomains that you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our Linux semi-dedicated hosting haven't got a set limit for the number of subdomains that you can create. Adding a new subdomain within the account takes only a few clicks in the Hepsia website hosting CP and in the process you can choose the folder the subdomain will access if it is going to be different from the default one, create custom-made error pages, enable FrontPage Extensions if you need them or create a dedicated IP address as opposed to the shared server one if you have added such an upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. As soon as the subdomain is set up, you'll be able to access logs and visitor stats or you can easily jump to the website files for it inside the File Manager area by using fast access buttons. All subdomains that you've got within the account are going to be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you're going to be able to find and manage any of them effortlessly.
